Sweater, pants, shoes, J Crew; blouse, Nordstrom; earrings, lia sophia
A long time ago (real time? about two years), there was a woman whose closet consisted of 98% black. When this woman began reading personal style blogs, and then began posting her own style photos on her blog, an amazing change occurred. Her closet went from 98% black to a rainbow of patterns and colors. The black items are still there, but no longer does this woman look like she's dressing for a funeral every day.
Thank you, personal style bloggers, for teaching this woman (me, if you haven't figured that out ...) that while a closet full of black makes getting dressed each morning very easy, it also makes getting dressed each morning very, very dull.
Today is black and white day over at Everybody, Everywear. If you click on over, you'll see hundreds of fashionable women wearing black and white in a multitude of ways. It's good to wear the basics once in a while ... just please, not every day.

How are J.Crew shoes as far as fit and durability?

I personally find JCrew shoes to be hit or miss - I have a couple pairs (including these) that are SO comfortable. However, I find the strappier the shoe, the less comfortable they are (but that might just be my shoe philosophy in general). Also, I would never buy JCrew shoes full price - I only buy them on sale, but not final sale, since I want to be able to return them if they dont work out. This pair, however, if fantastic - SO comfortable and currently on sale!
PS: I do find JCrew shoes run true to size.

Alicia, thats one of the things I love about personal style blogging - there is so much inspiration out there! Every woman has her own style and I found it helpful to see what others were wearing and work on what I felt comfortable in while going a little outside my comfort zone! :)

I completely agree with the JCrew shoe comment - but I am glad I went ahead with my McAlister bootie purchase and kept both pairs - splurge. You look fabulous, darling. You should be pictures :)

I love black and white but find it so hard not to add a pop of color! I love how you mixed it up with different textures and threw in a pattern.
