Shirt, Brooks Brothers; skirt, BB Dakota (thrifted!); sandals, Coach; sunglasses, kate spade
I am NOT a bargain shopper. I have never been one of those people who go into TJMaxx and find three amazing outfits for $32.95. I cannot go into the Salvation Army or Goodwill to buy clothes ... Sorry, I just can't. And, in the past, when I would get tired of clothes, I would bag them up and put them in the Planet Aid collection bins.
However, a couple years ago, a store opened in Keene called Saks Thrift Avenue. It's a consignment store that only takes "name brand" items and they are very picky about the quality of the clothes, shoes, and accessories they accept.
So recently, instead of donating all my no-longer-worn clothing, I first bring it to Saks Thrift Avenue and see if they'll consign it. And while I'm there, I take a look around and sometimes buy something ...
This skirt is BB Dakota, is my size, and still had the tags on it. It was originally $89.95 and was marked at Saks for $19.99. I had a $6 credit, so this lovely summer skirt only set me back $13.99!
OK, maybe there is something to this whole thrifting thing ...

Too funny - I have that same skirt and love it! I bought it in Keene at Moe and wear it all the time. Enjoy!

I can totally relate to your non-thrifting mentality. I like to see all of one item laid out in front of me and the most digging I need to do is for my size. The thrift stores can be overwhelming. Although, like you I started taking my stuff to a thrift shop to sell and now I suppose I should hang around a little afterwards to see what I can find. - Katy

Cute outfit. I think what you described was babysteps,awww. I will say that not every wants/likes/is willing to thrift! My daughter won't step foot into a thrift store, she says it makes her itch, lol.

@Katy - I agree 100% about only digging for your size. I like everything laid out neatly for me, too!
@KandiStyle - I'm with your daughter ... The few times I have gone to the local Salvation Army, I do feel like I'm all itchy afterwards!! Maybe that makes me a shopping snob, but I'm okay with that ... :)

That skirt is beyond pretty and I love your take on thrifting name brand items. I host a thrifting link up on my blog each week and I'd love for you to submit your look!

I made my way over here via EBEW
I am so happy to read your post
I am not a "thrift" person either and thought maybe
something was wrong with me
I like you happened into thrifting
I volunteer at an orginization that has a thrift store and sometimes I get to go through the clothes as they come in
Every once in awhile I find a little treasure
great outfit by the way]

@Silvrgurl - I don't believe we are alone in our lack of thrifting! Once in a while is fine, but I also like nice, clean, well-organized stores, too!!

I don't know if I could make it without thrifting! I love a good hunt. You did amazing on this skirt. It is seriously cute and very versatile. I love it!

@Jentine - I am doing better! I went to my first swap today and now have a lovely new dress and jacket for this fall. I will proudly label them SWAPPED and THRIFTED when I wear them.
