Tomorrow is March. For many that means spring is on its way (please!!!), but it also means that it's time for March Madness! Whoo Hoo!
After a spectacular beating of the Hoyas on Saturday, Syracuse is ranked #12. Who else is supporting the Orangemen? If not, who are you following?

Well, friends, family, and any others who have been following my style adventure these past two months ... the 30 for 30 remix has finally come to an end. Two months and 48 pieces of clothing later (I used the same 12 pieces in both remixes), I am done.
When I was chosing my second 30 for 30 items, I made sure to include this sparkly cardigan, because I knew it would be perfect to wear when viewing the most important fashion event of the year - the Oscars.

Do you ever see a picture in a magazine of an outfit and wish so much that you could buy it? Of course, the outfits I feel that way about are usually Chanel or Gucci and the item I love usually costs $2,587. Such was the case when I was flipping through the February 2011 issue of Marie Claire:
Oh how I love this jacket - but it did, in fact, cost almost $3,000. Seriously? That's insane. So for one of my last 30 for 30 remixes, I thought I would try to recreate it using items I already have in my closet:
Jeans? Check! Striped t-shirt? Check! Amazing cropped white jacket with black stitching? Well ... no. But this black sweater jacket was a good fill-in. Since I will NEVER spend $3,000 on a trendy jacket this will have to do.

Taking the picture for this outfit was ... well, annoying is the honest answer. Poor Nathan is sick with a stomach bug and tried taking pictures with my regular camera. But that camera takes HORRIBLE pictures in the dark and in the cold, so those didn't turn out well. I didn't have the heart to ask him to try again when he is on the couch feeling so ill.
So I moved on to the other photographer, who really had no interest in taking pictures ... she spent the entire time giggling and sticking her fingers in the lens of the camera. Not good for a decent picture.
This is the only one where you can half-way see my remix. It was taken with my iPhone and my facial expression definitely reflects my mood. I've learned that if I'm going to participate in another 30 for 30 someday I need to get a decent camera and hope that Nathan doesn't get ill again ... I definitely count on him to take pictures seriously.

Pictures taken inside are not ideal ... but with MORE SNOW falling outside, I didn't want to get soggy and wet before heading off to work. I know I live in NH, and I know it's still only February, but I am getting a little tired of snow.
This is also my last work 30 for 30 outfit. I can't believe I am soclose to being done! While it's been fun, I have been eyeing the other clothes in my closet lately and am really looking forward to begin wearing them again next week!

Imagine my suprise when I saw Kendi's outfit post this morning - I used that title for my first remix for this 30 for 30. Since she copied my title post, I decided to loosely copy her outfit with items I have in my remix.
Yes, I did wear this sweater to book group last night. And yes, I am wearing it again today. I didn't spill wine on it, so I figure twice in a row is okay.

Once a month, I have the wonderful opportunity to get together with an amazing group of women and have a fabulous time. Our book group has been meeting for almost two years now, and I ALWAYS look forward to it. In addition to reading some fabulous books - "The Help", "Water for Elephants", and "Loving Frank" have been some of my personal favorites - we have a great time drinking wine and laughing, laughing, and more laughing.
At last evening's group, we discussed this month's choice:
An excellent non-fiction read, which examines how our cells can be used for medicine, who has the right to our DNA, and should there be monetary compensation for the use of our bodies for medical research. Heavy stuff.
After our discussion, we lightened the mood by playing a rousing game of Balderdash. Do you ever play this game? It is so much fun! We all learned some new words - the favorite being "furfur": An epidermal scale, as that associated with dandruff. What would YOUR definition of "furfur" be if you were playing Balderdash? We came up with some pretty raunchy ones.

When I received my copy of House Beautiful in the mail the other day, I was very excited to see the color they had chosen for the spring color issue:
I love pink! There's a wonderful essay in this issue about how pink isn't just for three-year-old girls ... and I agree!
When I was pregnant with Charlotte - we knew we were having a girl - I bought as much pink as I possibly could. Nathan, my mom, and mother-in-law painted Charlotte's room a beautiful shade of pale pink. I bought pretty much every piece of pink clothes I could find. But I had to restrain myself from buying pink big-ticket items, like a stroller, car seat, etc. in case our second child was a boy. But when I was pregnant with Molly, and we found out we were having another girl - watch out pink!
I have a good amount of pink in my own wardrobe, too, and am consistently drawn to pink clothes. I try to limit myself somewhat as I get older and think it's good to balance the pink with more neutral colors. But honestly, I think pink can go with any color - it's just that good.
As for the pink scarf I'm wearing today, Nathan and I bought it when we were on vacation in NYC a couple years ago. I went into Lord & Taylor looking for something for my mom, and walked out with this scarf instead. It was such a lovely shade of pink (and purple) that I had to have it!

I love this outfit! (Am I allowed to say that?) I don't know why I haven't worn this remix before! A wrap dress is always super comfy, and I LOVE the maroon tights. I bought them at WalMart for $2.50.
You know what else I bought at WalMart for under $3? Wine. For $2.87 you can get a bottle of wine. Sorta.
My lesson from my once-a-year trip to WalMart? Tights under $3 = good idea. Wine under $3 = bad idea. In fact, I don't think it was even real wine ... I think it was red water with some turpentine mixed in.
But the tights? The tights are AWESOME!
I also really love this necklace, but it cost much more than $3 and it was not from WalMart. I also love my wonderful husband who took these pictures - he is priceless.

This is the second time I've worn this outfit this remix. The only difference today is a different pair of jeans, so I'm counting it as its own remixed outfit (sneeky, no?).
There's not a lot to say today - there's some more snow falling, Charlotte is off to camp at Stonewall Farm for the week, Molly and I are home today since her daycare is closed.
